Norovirus probable at Swedish pizza joint; almost 600 sick

Posted: March 23rd, 2009 - 8:58pm by Doug Powell

Pizzeria Alcamo in Jönköping – which is apparently in southern Sweden – was closed Thursday and by today, 593 people said they were sick after a visit or a slice.

It is not yet known whether patrons fell ill as a result of food poisoning or a fast-spreading outbreak of the winter vomiting virus.

The council's health and safety office has carried out tests on kebab meat, iceberg lettuce and kebab sauce in a bid to isolate the source of the outbreak.

J??nk??ping is, in fact, in southern Sweden. The most odd and amusing part of this post is the 'apparently.' They're telling the truth!

I must EXTREMELY DISAGREE with Jessica here since im from Sk??ne(southern Sweden) and live in J??nk??ping...J??nk??ping is NOT in southern Sweden - as said, sk??ne is known as southern sweden. Bordering Sk??ne is Kronobergs l??n (l??n is somewhat like "state") , Blekinge l??n & hallands l??n...THEN further upp comes J??nk??pings L??n which is considered more "upper/mid" sweden...Look it up..I also go sick from Alcamo and i was sick for 10 days!..It was a new form of the stumach flu which 2 of the workers had but were immune to and had not known they were giving it to people. Sad but feels good to be able to stay away from fast food awhile... haha.
