Children paraded in support of raw milk

Posted: November 17th, 2009 - 11:16am by Doug Powell

Shameless exploitation of children? Sure, why not. As Henry Fonda said in the movie, On Golden Pond, “What use is it having dwarfs around if they don’t do chores.” (Those are my daughters, eating genetially engineered sweet corn and drinking pasteurized ciider, circa 2000.

But why do some have to be so sanctimonious about it?

This is from Wise Traditions: The Weston A. Price Foundation 10th Annual Conference, that happened last weekend with a greatest hits of raw milk promoters and bullshiters. And, like the line-dancing instructor shouting out fascist routines, these kids are being paraded and chanting, “we want raw milk.” An updated table of raw milk outbreaks is available at http://bites.ksu.edu/raw-milk-outbreaks.

Bob Hayles says:

This post is typical of those who crave the protection of the nanny state. Children who spontaneously break out in support of an event they attend are compared to facists, with the poster decrying "using the children", while he blythly ignores corporate food using children to push food that, according to the CDC, is the most dangerous food in the country...deli style meats.Care for an Oscar Meyer weiner anyone? The kids in commercials pushing them sure seem to like them.

Katie Filion says:

if you ask these kids what happens to their bodies when they drink pasteurized milk, many of them will tell you that they get violently sick: gas, nausea, asthma inflammations, etc. ask them how they feel after they stop drinking the sterile milk from the store and they'll tell you their reactions magically disappear!many people come to drink raw milk and eat organic food because they are reactions to chemicals used or molecular structure changing as a result of radiation or pasteurization. not because they're crazy or ignoring the government's warnings.

Michael Schmidt says:

I am impressed by Doug Powell's relentless sarcasm as self declared protector of people. The arrogance displayed will help at the end to wake people up to stop listening to any of these self proclaimed food safety experts. For 15 years I try to gain some understanding where Doug Powell is coming from but I am getting lost where to find some common sense. What is most striking is the lack of willingness of the "experts" trying to understand those who look beyond food safety issues and investigate nutrition as the key for personal health. As the fear mongering becomes more and more a scientific sport, will help the raw milk movement and puts those experts where they belong: In the Kindergarten.Doug I have a dream: I dream that one day you will ask sincere questions and we both can enter into a constructive dialogue. That is what we should teach our children.Respect each otherI hope your family is as healthy as mine. All my children grew up on raw milk three became health professionals and thank me for their healthy upbringing.Warm regards Michael Schmidt
