The first Irishman to play at the U.S. Open, Conor Niland, withdrew during his first-round match against Novak Djokovic after suffering food poisoning following a meal of pork and salad at a fancy Manhattan restaurant.

"I got sick everywhere after my 30-minute warm-up. I thought I could bluff my way through but you can't do that against the number one in the world, I just found out. I thought I was going to vomit after long points. I just felt really, really rotten out there."

Funeral Directors London says:

That is a disaster especially at such a time. Some similar happened to me. My wife and myself were at a wedding reception which was serving sandwiches and deli. Hardly drank anything which is unusual but at least I know it was not drink. During the night I a woke being so sick and then a few hours later my wife was sick to. Speaking to others who attended the party some of them were very ill as well. You just would not think that sort of food could be infected.
